| Hello All.. my pc is currently in the shop.. I opened an email addressed to me by UPS manager.. turns out it is a virus.. I had been expecting a parcel so opened.. not ever again!! so just be carefull for all those that are waiting for parcels you shouldn't be getting an email from UPS..
on the lighter note.. my files are still saved..thank goodness!! I told the guy I am a quilter and all those patterns stored in there are collectors and I would not be able to get them back.. I am having them backup everything as well for me.. I don't care about anything except those patterns..
just a warning.. Deb |

| I got one and I think it was from opening an email from AQS. DH is a computer guy, so he fixed it, but it took about 4 or 5 hours. Good thing I don't have to pay for that. | |

| I'm sorry to hear about your computer. I hope they can retrieve everything you had on there!
If only these guys that create the viruses would put their brains to work on something good..just imagine the things they could do? I can't see how they can get any satisfaction from frying people's computers? |

| I was on Facebook and it tried downloading a Trojan into my computer. As a result I quit Facebook. My AVG caught it, but what if a new one comes along that gets through? I don't need that. |

| I had a strange one last nite. Placed an order thru Amazon & got the usual email confrimation but then got another email with the amazon URL but with a lady's name attached asking me to click on a link for more info. The link took me to a URL selling stuff like viagra. I forwarded the whole thing to the security address at Amazon. Weird but I don't think it was a virus? | |

| You can get these anywhere and it is not particularly Facebooks fault..I understand enen if you have the best protection it can get in ... This week I almost got one and it was a scan that said I had 13 virus'. Well I quickly scanned with my protection..sure enougth no virus detected. When I tried to navigate away from the page it wouldn't let me. I just closed the internet connnection down. Sometimes that doesn't even work...if so I close down the whole comuter. Just goes with the territory I guess. | |

| Those little windows that pop up saying "windows has detected a virus" are usually bogus. My DD (works as a Tech for local college) says the ones that look like a real Windows "window" (blue trim and all) are fakes. They are hard to close out and TLC is right, sometimes you just have to restart to get rid of them. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| I also had a bogus Trojan... and you know no one wants a Trojan virus... they usually are the worst... it was just another way to get you to sign up for another spyware or adware program... | |

| SpyBot has saved us from many sites. But no antivirus programs will keep you from some bad sites or trojans. Be very aware! | |

| AnnMarie..I just got the Amazon one yesterday. I had recently placed an order so it seemed legit? When I clicked the link my AVG popped up and said it was a virus. You may have been infected with one that goes through your mailbox and uses your addy to send out messages?
It was dumb of me to click on it in hind sight. From now on if anybody gets a message that looks like it's from a legitimate site that you do business with..don't click the link. Close it and go to the site and check your account. If there's a real message it will be there. Be careful out there! |

| Some of you gals may have gotten some rather weird emails from me lately... I think I solved the problem this morning... someone got a hold of my password and was using my contact list to send out emails... it is NOT a virus and can't be taken care of by virus protection programs... to solve the problem it was as simple as changing my password... as least that is what my repair man told me.... It probably is a good thing to change passwords every so often any how.... when you do, it should be with capitol letters, small letters, numbers or symbols.... makes it harder for anyone to get it... I am really sorry about the irritating emails... | |
