| I recently colaborated on a quilt with another quilter. The quilt has a light tan/cream background. Even though she washed the batik, it bled a little into the background. The quilt has been washed and dried.
Any suggestions? I think someone at one time or another gave a suggestion about this, so thought I'd throw it out there.

| Try an Oxyclean paste on just the cream part. Just mix some oxyclean powder with some water to make the paste. I wouldn't leave it more than a couple of hours, then check it to make sure it's not taking color from the batik. | |

| Oh boy I hope it comes out for you, in the past I have had success using a weak solution of dye run remover but Id test a scrap of the batik if you can first, good luck and let us know how you go _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| What a terrible pity !! The second quilt i made was a Margaret Rolfe applique quilt. I must have been mad ! Knew nothing about applique and it had all these tiny birds feet and beaks ! yet I went ahead and did a pretty good job of it . BUT .... I knew nothing about fabrics and bought plain colours in Homespun [ cheap] I had to wash it and a dark green colour ran into a pale grey background on one block Knew nothing about what to do either . What I tried was I mixed up some Napisan in water and just went over and over the dyed places with a cotton bud dipped in the solution. Don't know if it was just luck but it got rid of it fairly well. Certainly enough that you couldn't see it hardly at all . BTW ...Napisan here is a brand name for the stuff you soak babies soiled cloth nappies [ diapers ] in . |

| I tried the Oxyclean and that faded it quite a bit. I'm going to try the Napisan over the weekend. Here there have something called Fels Naptha, but it is a bar soap. You cut it up and use it in homemade laundry detergent. They also have Borax. I'll try both. It is a lot less noticeable now though.
I'll let you know how it works.

| Yay.....you can always try a second coat of Oxyclean if the other doesn't work. I've done that in the past. | |

| TMM, I think I'm going to do a triple wammie....Fels Naptha, Borax and another hit with Oxyclean. Sort of like a super crime stopper. | |
