Here is a link I found that has a lot of ideas about crazy quilt blocks, embroidery on blocks, and some nice examples. It is a good site to explore.

For anyone wanting to do a traditional, hand embroidered, crazy quilt, I strongly recommend Judith Baker Montano's books.

I have her book, The Crazy Quilt Handbook, by Judity Montano. Another one is Crazy Quilt Patchwork: A Quick and Easy Approach with 19 Projects, by Dixie Haywood. I like the Montano book better; I found it after I bought the earlier one. The Montano book has a lot of stitches that are traditional. I also used a ribbon embroidery technique, and other old embroidery stitches, as well.

I got one Montano book that I really don't use. I have Elegant Stitces and Floral Stitches, both of which I use. They cover similar territory somewhat differently. I use Floral somewhat more.

Both terms are equally accurate for this forum, missmommy. ;)
