Celtic angel pattern anyone?

I don't think angels are a usual Celtic symbol. When I was looking for symbols to put on my Irish wall hanging I searched google images. Have you tried that, Memaw? It takes some time because you end up sifting through a lot of junk. . . but when I did it I'd look and look. Then when I found something I liked, I'd click on it to see a larger image. I printed out the image and enlarged it on a copier and then used it to make an applique pattern.

I use google searcch all the time...it really is a handy tool! Bing pics seem like its more advertisements.

I thought the same as you QBee, celtic being more pagan based I dont recall them really having anything angel-ish. I have a book of celtic art etc but its all griffins and knot work, nothing at all angel like.

Memaw just an idea but what if you did the angels top half, torso so to speak and designed the skirt of her gown as a celtic knot kind of thing, kind of fantasy art? Thats another idea, did you google using the word 'fantasy or fantasy art when you searched, that will pick up all the images that fantasy artists do to give you ideas, just a thought

Memaw4 I have a celtic angel that is cross stitch.
I'll post a pic when I get back from running errands.
Maybe you can adapt it to what ever you're trying to do.

Nice patterns

I've been looking on line at cross stitch patterns also and have found a few.
I've been going to a Therapist and she is going to be having a little baby girl and is doing her room in Celtic Angels and I just thought it would be nice to either do a quilt in that or a cross stitched picture of one for her room.

It's isn't something I have to do. I had already picked out a quilt to do for her anyway that had little angels on it. I may go ahead and just do that one.

Memaw - This is striking me funny. . .I don't think there are Celic angels, but she's decorating baby's room with them!?! There's sure a lot of stuff I think I know that I actually don't know! I'd sure love a peek at that room.

I think your idea of going ahead with the quilt with little angels on it is a lovely idea and it will be a very special gift.

Q-Bee, I don't think there are Celtic Angels either, but she has to be part Irish and my guess is that's where these little angels are coming in. After spending hours googling all I really came up with was angels with red hair and green gowns! That's the difference. Not much huh?

Her colors are peach and somthing simular to a seagreen. Another idea I had really came from Gimpy. Just make a 4 or 9 patch and quilt her design of the Celtic Angel Pendant in every other square. I should be able to do that fairly easily enough.

Linda, that is exactly the same one I found on line! It's just beautiful. I think I'm sticking to my idea of the 4-9 patch and just quilting some Irish Knots in it or something. I'm sure anything I make she's gonna like.

I just usually try to get as close to what the nursery theme is as I can get. I think most of us do......don't we?
