| We'd really love it if our members, new and old alike stopped by for a moment and took the time to introduce themselves. We love to meet new friends and sometimes coming onto a forum can be daunting. Dont be shy, we promise to behave and we look forward to hearing a little about everyone _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Hi, welcome newcomers, I'm Chris from Southeastern Michigan...have been quilting for 3.5 years. These ladies in this forum taught me how to quilt. There seems to be a wide variety of levels of quilters in this forum from expert to novice (that would be me).
How long have you all been quilting for? Do you perfer applique, paper peicing, peicing, English PP? Traditional fabrics? Modern? I'm still trying to figure out if I have a favorite.

| Hi I'm Kay from SE Ohio and I've been sewing for close to 40 yrs now and quilting for about 4. This forum has taught me lots of things and still are. I love to paper piece and applique the most. They are my favorites by far. I sew for people and have for several yrs. and love it. Mainly alterations. But have done weddings and other things as well. It's a passion! Now that you know about me, I want to know about YOU! |

| Hello new members My posting name is Mamu and I am from NW Montana. I have been sewing since I was 6 yrs old and quilting since....well, for many, many years....I have taught quilting and just recently purchased a used long arm machine to help quilt all of those tops I have laying about. I also have several horses of which I like to 'play' with. So, you will see several posts here from me about my daily activities with the horses. There are several ladies here that do other hobbies besides quitling and we love to hear about everything. This site is a great place to learn, swap, find new and old things to enjoy and just to lurk about. Would love to meet you! | |

I also do ceramics, crochet, my DD is involved in 4H and archery and we have tons of animals. Love the gals here. We do talk about everything and lend a helping hand whenever possible. Even though it may only be a virtual hand, it is just as comforting. I really hope some of ya'll will join in our fun. Would really love to get to know y'all. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Hi ya'll, I'm redmadder, also known as Stella. I've been quilting for 38 years and learn something new everyday. I've grown to know and love these online folks. My favorite is Civil War and 1930s, lots of precise and intricate piecing. But mostly I love quilts, new, modern, antique, and the next one I see. My DH and I have moved in with DD while SIL is on deployment. Its not always easy but we are taking it one day at a time. If only there were room to set up a frame or funds for a longarm. I do woodworking or would woodwork, if wood work would........ I just kill me. Always glad to meet new people and always glad to help. After all, that's how I learn. Hope you'll join the conversation. That's my little brother in the avatar, we egg each other on. _________________ If you can't be a hero, be an inspiration.

| Hi new members. I am Henny . Will be 70 years old in two months time . Have been sewing most of my life , quilting for about 15 years. Spent many years doing Crosstitch though haven't done much of that in recent years Do have one half finished in the cupboard . Oh yes, UFO's come in many guises I am married and have two sons 49 & 38 , one grandaughter 20 . No pets after the last of our doggies died last year . I would like to have another but feel like I am maybe too old, would hate to pop off and leave them behind so my sons bring theirs every time they visit. It's like having grandkids ...you can send them home ! We would all love you to visit with us on the forum and don't forget we have a Grumpy Quilters spot where it does wonders for you to let off steam to a listening ear ! |

| Hi, Im Gimpy Cat, realised I forgot to introduce myself Like Henny Penny I live in Australia but whereas she resides on the mainland I live on the island state Tasmania (its to the south of the mainland, closer to Antartica) I have been playing with quilting since 2000, have two kids, a neglected husband and 3 cats (one belongs to my daughter). We live rurally, well there are only two cities in my state and both have populations of around 200,000 the remaining 100,000 inhabitants live in the country - the whole state is country and wilderness. I love needle turn applique and simple old fashioned patterns, with all the pretty fabrics out there to feature now I think sometimes less is more. I love reproduction fabrics and flannel too. I have a vege garden and like to read too. Stop by and say "Hello", we dont bite but we are anxious to meet new friends _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| OK, Marynel here. I started quilting in 2000 when I retired and my new dear neighbor dragged me to a guild quilting class. Over 400 quilts later, I am completely hooked and have gotten rid of almost all of my other craft stuff. Like the other membehere, I am quite willing to give quilting suggestions to members. I am also more than ready to admire your work. Feel free to browse through our albums.
If we use terms you don't know, be sure to ask. We may say SBS for Sunbonnet Sue and HST for Half Square Triangle, but it's not meant as a code. We are just a bit lazy about typing things out. We hardly ever bite and are not stuffy at all. Most of us do lots of charity quilts.
Most of us have fur or feather babies, gardens, recipes, etc that we also talk about. I started on this board with 2 parrots and 3 dogs. The parrots now have better, more attentive and less allergic homes, and we are down to 1 very sweet dog, who is a contradiction to anything you may know about pit bills (she is a boxer-pit bull mix, we think). She tells everyone who comes to the place that she loves them madly.
DH and I live in the Trinity Mts of NW California, a place where nearly everone knows or is related to a quilter and one day a year everything comes to a halt for our outdoor quilt show, Autumn in the Alps. We also have, at least 1 more time, a large quilt show at our fair the last weekend in August. I am supposed to be busy getting ready for that, but am actually doing a commission quilt at the moment. | |

| My name is Jill and I live in central Ohio with DH and yellow lab named Haley. I have identical twin sons who are 32. One is married with three children (two boys ages 5 and 2 and a girl who is 1) and lives here in SE Ohio. My other son is in the Air Force currently stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. I worked most of my life in a library and retired in 2002. I have been sewing for 53 years now and started quilting in 2003. I had done cross stitch for many years but I started having problems doing that with aging eyes. I had always wanted to learn to quilt and one day I was in Joann Fabrics and saw a sign for beginning quilt classes. I prefer patchwork, scrappy quilts. Besides quilting, I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my grandchildren. I'm thinking about starting to do scrapbooking. | |

I love applique, find its easier for me to find time to make a stitch here and there than get time at the machine. We are looking forward to getting to know you, the bit of help Henny Penny offered about the forum was wonderful, thanks HP!

| Grampat, how nice to meet you! This is such a wonderful group of women (and Gimp's husband who shows up now and then isn't too bad either). Some of us don't always behave ourselves so we can keep up our membership in the group I founded "Quilters Behaving Badly Association". Actually, we just engage in some good-natured teasing of one another, which adds some fun and laughs to our days. Somehow, though most of us have never met, it's easy to feel like we're with friends here. Being caretaker for your DH must be challenging. I hope little breaks here will help add a little sparkle when you need it. I live in a small town in west-central Minnesota. I'm only 61. Hubby is an attorney and I manage our little office so still go to work every day. (darn it!) We have 4 children and 10 grands - kind of like a set of steps from 20 down to 5. Well, some of us talk a lot too, so I'm going to stop now. | |

It sounds like keep pretty busy, do you get to spend time with all your grandkids? I live in Tasmania, its the little island state of australia, the mainland being referred to as the 'big island' LOL.
