Welcome QC. My hubby was stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam war. He traveled all over the place sightseeing. Loved it......

So happy you found the quilt guild. That and the quilt shop would of been my first places to look for! lol! Oh yeah, and the grocery stores! Moving Overseas - Page 2 472423 I just have to have my munchies while sewing or quilting.

Have you been quilting long? Would love to see your work........

I bet the kids will pick up words quicker than you and Bizkitea here can help out Im sure winking How is the daughter you had to leave in the states going?

It would be a pleasure to help out but I think there shouldnt be a big communication problem. Its always good to know some basics from the language in the country you are living in and maybe pick up a bit more - but lots of german do speak at least a bit of english since we have english lessons in school from fourth grade on.

We moved in our house today and all my quilting stuff is here...yah!!! It's be great, stressful but wonderful and expensive! Kids are loving it! They are in school. Our car is not here yet but on the way!! Guild is on base haven't gone to but one meeting because DH needs the rental for work but it's a stick and I can't drive one lol Beautiful country tho!! Love our village it's Hermersberg we have everything here! Backery, market, butcher shops. Were in heaven. no fabric stores but once again DH saw me unpacking my fabric today and kept reminding me how much of a stash I have lol. There is supossed to be a store moving from up north in the spring to ktown which a lot of the guild travels up north to go to this store and say it's wonderful! Well see....Thanks so much to all!!

your little town sounds lovely... can hardly wait to see pictures of it... When you have time you must start an album in the Gallary... glad the kids are enjoying... you will have to relay some of your experiences... we will all love to hear about them... glad you got your sewing machine and fabric.... Very Happy But, whatever time you can squeeze in to share with us, please do. Wish I could visit you. I'd help you learn that straight stick and awy we'd go!

Glad that you like it over here and the village and house you are moving in. I love to live in a village were everything is in walking/bicycle distance (well bakery, butcher, market). I´m sure when everything is settled and your car has arrived you will find some time to join the guild on base. Once again welcome to Germany!

I'm glad you make it ok and sounds like you're getting settled. How long did you have to wait for your furniture? My son (in Air Force) was sent to Alaska last fall and it took three weeks before his furniture arrived. I've never been to Germany, so I'd enjoy pictures along with everyone else.

QC
I'm sure you are going to love it there! I lived near Bitsburg when I was young for 3 years. Loved it. Nothing like a fresh roll from a bakery, first thing in the morning.

Ditto what everyone said about pictures!
We like pictures!
