| You are more then welcome to take my idea BTW. Need to use up scraps and quilt to feel better.... I'm a Capricorn so even scrap projects have to be organized in my head lol
I want to do a themed scrap quilt 1 block representing each month! I'm just taking scraps and sewing them together.
Need help with January??? What do you think of? All I could think of was blue and white...snow??? It's actually my birthday month too. Have all the other months
Febuary: Valentine, reds, whites, pinks March: Greens, shamrocks April: Easter, spring colors May: Flowers for mom's day June: guy stuff for fathers day or wedding theme July: Red, whites, and blues August: Summer, vacations September: School October: halloween November: Fall (my fav) December: Christmas
Thanks in advance! | |

| I don't think I can help you Rachel as your months are different to mine. How about some happy fabric , party fabric for the months that your family members birthdays fall in ? Last year I did a Calendar quilt with a group. We had to put a square in fabric to represent each day of the month for twelve months . Was a bit of a hard thing at times but i got there ! To size the block up better [ it was made like a calendar ....7 days across by the number of weeks down ] I used fabric in the colours of the birthstone of the month and also the flower of the month fabric . Still haven't sewed those months together into atop ! ANOTHER UFO |

| You could do a Santa on Vacation on some tropical Island. Then you could use brighter colors. Or a "thoughts of spring" version where someone is planning their spring seed planting or what they will do when the weather warms. Or a cozy fire and books (quilting of course...LOL). If you want to go with the snow theme...you have snowmen, skiing, sledding, ice skating, Or anything that symbolizes a "new start" to you. A "clean slate" if you will. I'm sure you will come up with something that you will love. | |

| Rachel - I pondered your birthstone and birth flower. . . but a garnet is red and the flower is carnations which would be white, reds, and pinks - - - and sounds like your February Valentines theme. I like the idea of blues, grays, and whites for winter because you'll be making your block in Germany, where you'll actually have winter (I think ), but I also like the bright, celebration look for the New Year. I hope our thoughts will help you do some more pondering and decide what means the most to you. By the way, I love your block for each month idea! | |

| My thoughts are exactly what Qbee stated. (Yes, we are geniuses, we think alike a lot. And if that doesn't give y'all sleepness nights, nothing will. ) I like the snow/winter theme cause it can also represent where you are (physically) in your life right now. On the months that have a little something extra, how about an applique to represent that event. For example; applique a party hat on Jan's. Embroider or write your name and the date on the little hat. You could do that for birthdays and your anniversary. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| One way to theme a scrap block is to have a background of scraps with an applique. I envision a snowman holding a birthday balloon or present. | |

| You could do something with the incoming year, like the baby as the New Year's symbol. OR something I think would be really cute is an eskimo/igloo theme. that would represent the cold or even an applique penguin. | |

| maybe someone here has some fireworks fabric for January, NY Eve represented? Sounds like you are having it all sorted in advance and well thought out. Do you need any scrap pieces to help you get it all together? _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Fireworks for the new year, party hats, snowman setting off fireworks wearing a party hat. Fire and Ice theme.
Lets see, Elvis was born January 8th, as was my DD. Well, I didn't know about Elvis till she was 8.
Comet Kohutek was at its brightest on January 8th, we were hoping for more, that comet was a fizzle. _________________ If you can't be a hero, be an inspiration.
