Hi, i've been sewing since i was 9 or 10 and started quilting in my early teens. i have 5 adult children and 2 grandchildren that reap the benefit of those skills. My kids all sew(even the boy) and have many quilts to their credit. I hope to find and share ideas with all of you here.

WELCOME Lucismom.... so glad you are here and telling us a little bit about yourself. That is wonderful that all your kids sew, even the boys....gives credit to their Mom! Thumbup

I, too, have been sewing since I was 8yrs. I started quilting around 1975 and was pretty much self taught although my mother and Gmother both quilted...mom was into hand work and Gmother quilted on her domestic machine. I just recently purchased a used long arm and have been having great fun with 'Pandora' quilting up my huge stack of tops. So nice to get some of those finished up.
There are so many talented ladies on this forum and we all learn from each other. We all love to show off our accomplishments and teach each other. Our swaps are great fun and we would love to welcome you to participate in one or two!
By the way...where are you from?

Hi lucismom , great to see you posting. I think I was about 11 when I started sewing. A case of necessity for me as my mother was no sewer ! Have always enjoyed it in one form o, both boys The elder had to have some sewing skills as he was in the Air Force for 15 years but that is as far as it goes with both of them ! How did yours get started on sewing ?

Welcome lucismom, I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. I started sewing at age 9, taught by my mother, then 4-H, and school home ec. I am one of six children, but the only one who sewed. I sewed almost all my clothes and some for my two sons. I started quilting in 2003 and love it--patchwork is my favorite. I now have three grandchildren--2 boys, 1 girl--and have made a number of quilts for them. We'd love to see your quilts and you can view ours in the gallery.

WElcome Lucismom! We are always glad to have new friends on QLR! Let us see some of your work....we love to share ideas and admire each other's efforts! I love seeing what everyone else does!

My mom taught me to sew when I was around ten. I started quilting off and on about eight years ago, but didn't really get "serious" til about four years ago. It's now my favorite hobby and way to spend my time!

Lusicmom, welcome aboard! I was a late bloomer. I didn't start sewing until I was a sr in high school and my big sister moved away. I did not start quilting until late in 2000. It's certainly not too late to start. Ask if you have questions. We look forward to seeing your work.

Welcome aboard Lucismom. Pull up a chair, grap a cuppa new here but no to sewing 271923 sit back and enjoy the fun.

I've been sewing since the age of 13....mom made me take Home Ec. in school and I hated it! Now I thank her for it everytime I sit down at my machines! I sure didn't listen to my teacher way back then, so you could say I'm a self taught seamstress. I'm also into quilting, but have only been doing that for about 5 yrs now. I have a few quilts under my belt, but actually do more sewing for customers than quilting. Hopefully in the future (2012) that will change. My goal for the coming year is to make more quilts! new here but no to sewing 192697

I'm the mother of two daughters and Gmother of 3 girls and 1 boy.

lol! ...Hubby optional...lol!

Looking forward to seeing your works of art......
