How does everyone store their quilts and wallhangings when not in use?
I roll my wallhangings and have some round container to put them in, but after awhile the containers pile up....does anyone have any good suggestions??? I don't like to fold them...I suppose hanging them in a closet or some such place might work...if I had a closet to hang them in...?? :santa_undecided:

Alternately, you could give them away. My local senior center and senior housing always willling to accept wall hangings for fund raisers. Bed quilts go to other charities. I never have to worry about storing quilts.
Of course, I don't have any space in this trailer for them anyway.

I have more Thanksgiving and Christmas wall hangings and table centerpieces than anything elso. I store them between the mattress and box springs in the extra bedroom. They lay nice and flat there and free from dust. Believe me--there are few places in my house that are
"free of dust".

Golo, your "beds" remind me of a cabin DH and I rented 3 or 4 years ago. That bed had the most gorgeous quilt. Goldish brown fabric with black outlines of dragon flies was the feature fabric. Blocks were made of that fabric, black corduroy and calico in blacks, browns and golds. It was beautiful. Made me want to snoop in the other cabins. But get this. I didn't even quilt then. admired it though.
Now for my tip on the F & P show a week or so ago, they had a tip: Roll quilts around those spongy water noodles. If you need it wider, use a dowel in the hole in the middle to connect them. It thought that was a good idea.

First you have to finish them all....seriously, in the past I've rolled them up with archival tissue paper and then stored them in "quilt bags or boxes" which I bought from Keepsake.

If you use the noodles, I have heard that you need to sew a cover for them. Use muslin or whatever to protect the quilts from the petroleum components of the foam noodles.

I am so angry!!!!! That posting about the noodles from F & P. I posted that on QT when it was alive and well. Those dirty rotten dogs. I should sue. I bet I wasn't given any credit for that! Cancel that subscription.
Anyway, my DH suggested the noodles and this is what I do -- with help!
I take a piece of batting and wrap that around the noodle first. Then I wrap that with muslin tied with muslin strips. Then I wrap the quilt around it with the right side in. Then I secure the quilt with muslin strips that I tie. DO NOT use elastic I was told by a museum curator.
You will need help in wrapping the noodle. It is next to impossible to do it on your own.

You couldn't prove it by me. I haven't touched any F&P stuff since they dumped us. It was just a business move on their parts, without any consideration for their forum users.
But I can tell you, I found the link while reading their web site, and I give them credit for that. We exist, and that is proof that they did us a favor initially, by giving us a place to share ideas. That is how we found each other; I am so glad we did!

They did the same thing with one of Blewbird's tips. Used it without giving her credit. How sad to resort to plagarism just to have something to say.
I guess we'll never know if F&P took it directly from the forum or one of the "ghost readers" on the forum took the ideas and sent them in taking credit for it just to get their 10 seconds of fame. Either way it is pretty sad.
