| I was in the LQS on Saturday and several people were looking at a new binding tool called "The Binding Thingy" by Deborah Manlove. You do not have to leave an opening for the end of your binding. You can still use a long strip of binding, but you stop at each end and leave a 2" tail. You do not need to slip stitch the corners shut and end up with perfect mitered corners. I haven't used it yet, hopefully tomorrow. There is a video on youtube.

| Found it by searching "The binding Thingy" in YouTube. Great idea. | |

| I think it looks way too complicated and more work than the normal way of sewing on binding... maybe it wouldn't be so bad on a wall hanging or table topper but to play around with a big quilt like she was doing... I don't think so.. IMO | |

| I begin sewing binding about 10" into the long piece I've made, sew around with miters, etc., and leave another piece unsewn. I unfold both ends, pin a 1/4" tuck in one (to account for the seam), pin them flat, lay one over the other and, cut diagonally. Unpin, sew the ends together and finish machine sewing the remaining part of the binding. This is much faster and easier than what most of my guild sisters do, certainly easier than what I have seen "experts" do. | |

| I'm going to do a practice piece today and hopefully try it on a quilt I got back from the LAer yesterday. It's about 55x65 so we'll see how it works. I'm not always happy with the way my corners look, so I'm anxious to see if they look better. | |
