I love your Teddy bear pattern it is adorable!

The other quilts are lovely and your quilting really compliments them, are you now finding less time to make your own quilts? was the LAQ worth your investment? do you get lots of business?

I don't find that I lack time for making my own tops...how ever, I don't seem to get them quilted up like I thought I would.. scratch

When I decided to purchase a longarm I did ALOT of research as to what would meet my needs.  Since I had rented time on a couple of longarms, I knew what I wanted.  I was able to purchase my longarm used and that saved me alot of money!  the downside of that is I had a learning curve on the maintenance of the machine.
I get as much business as I want in quilting for others.  I never wanted to be full time quilting, just enough to support my fabric/supplies/gadget/thread addiction. Embarassed
I did get enough business to pay off my machine in 8 months, which was nice to know.  I don't charge alot to quilt for others and have about a 2 week turn around time.  This helps the ladies get their tops finished.  So many longarm quilters charge themselves out of business, a person really needs to charge according to what your area will support.  With the fabric prices skyrocketing, it is hard for a quilter to pay big bucks for quilting too.
Off course I only do pantograph quilting (edge to edge) as I found the custom part of quilting took way too much time and most of the gals were not interested in paying the extra money for custom work.  Although there are some quilts that really need the custom work to make them sparkle...these ladies I refer to a couple of other quilters I know that do good work.
I have over 350 designs I can pick from, something for everyone...that really helps getting a design that will compliment the top. Very Happy

Here are a few quilts that I machine quilted for other people...

This one is a disappearing 9 patch she made it to give to a 90 yr old veteran and requested Flags be quilted on it

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3713

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3714

This one was a bit of a challenge for me to do as the maker had started hand quilting it and then decided she just wasn't going to get it done quickly enough and asked me to finish it for her. I normally do not take quilts that have been partially hand quilted...BUT, she didn't tell me and I had already started the machine quilting on it...had to be quite careful to not POP her hand quilting when I had it stretched on the frame.

This one was made up from a kit .. all KAFE fabrics with white background

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3720

Boy, was this one a challenge! I had chose a dense and difficult pattern to quilt so it took me alot of time and thread to do it Then when I was within 2 rows of completion...I find out that her backing was short by 20"
Shocked
She didn't have anymore of this flannel backing and so I dug in my stash and came up with this green to use. I had to piece this fabric onto her backing fabric while the quilt was still on the frame...pretty much had to stand on my head to get that done! I could have taken it off of the frame, sewed the piece on the backing, pinned it back on the frame and then spent the next several hours trying to get the pattern to line up again to continue quilting. That process did not appeal to me since this quilting pattern was so dense and difficult and I had done that sort of thing before with other quilts never being totally happy with the outcome. So, opted to do it while still on the frame. She was thrilled with it when I finished and I was thrilled that it was gone!

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3721

This quilt was made for the ladies niece who requested pink and gold for a quilt. I have never seen this color combination before. I quilted swirl hearts on it with Hot Pink thread, I think it turned out nice. Flannel pink zebra backing too!

Believe it or not.. this is quilt will be used as a table cloth! and she pieced the backing fabric so she can reverse it when she wants too. I had to call her and confirm that I didn't have two separate quilt tops and she assured me that they were to go together. So, I chose a quilting pattern that would work for both sides.

Looking good Mamu. Looks like you are going to have to start double checking the backing before you load them. I even do that to my own now. I got caught with a short one a while back. It is a hassle, I totally agree.

You do really good work. I love seeing your pictures.

Oh wow, they are all brilliant, is the over the river one printed panels or embroidered? I love the layout and design. The pink and gold is different, the one for the veteran is beautiful. Mum would love the Kaffe and the one that was short backing, I bet there was some cussing when you discovered that, sounds like you handled it well and made it work, you deserve a medal

The table cloth one, wow, I guess mum uses some of hers as table clothes but she puts a big sheet of clear plastic over them to protect them, sure is striking and why not have quilts everywhere!

You are doing an awesome job, that all your work is freehand is amazing, some of your patterns are so intricate and dense, everything you choose suits the quilt just right, well done Mamu bowing bowing bowing clap clap

Really beautiful work you have done, Mamu! I used the tablecloth pattern to make an LSU football quilt for DH, but it's hanging on a quilt rack, not on the table.

Beautiful work, Mamu. I love the idea of a quilt table cloth. Wouldn't want to ever have it on while eating though. However, it would be a lovely piece to view. But as I turn around a look at all the stuff on my dining table, I'm thinking, it additionally would maybe help me pick up my stuff more.

here are some pictures of some quilts that I quilted for others...

This quilt Carol made at one of our May Retreats

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3739

I quilted butterflies on it

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3738

This quilt was made by a beginner quilter and is the largest quilt that she has made. She will be sending it off as a wedding gift.

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3737

I had a scroll pattern that matched one of the prints she used, so that is what I quilted on it

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3736

I loved this quilt...all done in Christmas prints in the Twist pattern, it was a large quilt too!

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3734

She asked for Holly Berries for the quilting

Various quilts - Page 4 Img_3735

I just finished this quilt...it was huge. She made it for her grand daughter who is graduating this spring.

She wanted a flower design on it...so I found one that matched one of the lavender prints
