Selvages Anyone?

I have a small drawer (think kids shoe box) full of selvages. Anyone want them? I will divide between 2 people if wanted. Just PM me and send me your addy if I don't have it. Going in the trash this weekend if no one wants them.

Golo makes many things from them.

I love selvages... can always send them this way...

Heh. I have some. Just need to dig them out of the piles in my sewing room.

Tch, Tch, Fiber, easier to have a little box to stick them in.

I use mine to tie up tomato plants and trees LOL

I keep the more uninteresting ones for that too.

About two years ago I started quilting and crocheting with selvages. I'd welcome more. I only recently became aware of this site so I know I'm out of luck this time but if you have started another stash of selvages and want to send them my way, just let me know.

Pom, do you have any pics to share with us? Have you a finished project? We'd LOVE to see something.

I'm still collecting selvages if anyone has some you don't want. I will pay postage!

Crocheting with them? Hmmmm? Interesting. They would be durable that's for sure. I would be interested in seeing projects like that too.

They are in your gallery Pomegranate . Wow ! is all I can say. I can not imagine ever doing anything as fiddly as that !

That is so pretty PomegranateQuilter!  I'd never have the patience.  Of course I don't know how to do that anyway!

Pomegranate, I popped the pics into your post, they are beautiful, what a LOT of work, wow, Im amazed. Thats you in the pics? You look lovely, its so nice to see a happy face and be able to put it to a name. love your work, just awesome. Can we put them in the sew and show section so everyone sees your work?  

How wide? How long to be usable? Happen to be cutting up some yardage.

Red they told me they like a little of the fabric with it so I usually cut mine 3/4 to 1" and whatever length I happen to have. They use small pieces when they put them at an angle and I figure they can cut out the "boring" parts if they don't want them.

I cut mine at 3/4" too. When I get more organized, want to ship them off.

Pom, love your salvage quilt and bag. They r fun to work with.

Thanks for all of the kind words. I started making a jacket using selvages and a deconstructed sweatshirt. The back is almost done and now I'm going through my selvages to find appropriate ones for the sleeves and front panels. When I started, I had all of my selvages picked out for the project but shortly after I started, I received some more selvages that took my project in a slightly different direction than originally planned. For now it is a UFO that I'd like to have ready by autumn.

Red, when working with selvages for quilting, I like to have at least 3/4 inch of fabric...more is a bonus and allows me more options. If I'm planning on using lengthy selvages for crocheting, then just the selvage works fine.

Before Christmas, our guild workshop had us making paper pieced Christmas tree mug rugs with the colored/numbered dots on the selvage being machine appliquéd into place as garland.

Your projects are great. I love both of them and truly admire the patience that would take.
