I didn't like it much. You can link your pictures from the gallery to place them in a post here. I am looking into other ways to do the pictures too... First I was looking at ways to post the cute animated images...I think I might have figured that out (maybe)... Now I will look into using Webshots.

| Is this where I stick my nose in? :D Webshots, Flickr, Photobucket, ?Picasa?* are all free photo hosting sites (I'm sure there are more). Having an account at any of these will allow you to do So. Much. More. with your photos, whether you eventually start a blog, you want to print stuff for Christmas cards, you want to post photos here without taking up too much space on the Last Resort site, or if you want to make your pictures "Click To Big". Once you've decided on a photo host ( I'm partial to webshots and photobucket), wave from the audience and we'll walk you through what you need to know (and knowing me, even MORE) about sharing your photos. - http://www.webshots.com/ Webshots has easy-to-find categories; most quilting stuff I've found are in the "Home and Garden" category.
- http://www.flickr.com/ Flickr requires a Yahoo! user id and confuses the soup outta me (though I do have an account because of Ravelry).
- http://photobucket.com/ Photobucket is the one I use. It seems (to me) to be more To The Point, not as many bells and flashy things. :) I also like that the code that I need is up-front so I can get to it easier.
- http://www.picasa.com Picasa has all those question marks because I don't have much exposure to it. When I go to the website, the first thing is says is "Download Picasa 3.x". Strike one for me (download?? I think not). It's owned by Google. Blogger (where my blog is hosted) is also owned by Google, so I've found that if I upload pics directly to Blogger instead of linking to them in my Photobucket account, they go into a Picasa album. When I click on "my" Picasa album, I do indeed see some of my pictures -and all the text is in German!!! Uh. Strike two?

| Ok, finisher, I went to your flickr album and pulled a pic to test with. Hope that's ok! If you scroll down to the bottom of the screen where the test box is, you'll see some icons above it. The 7th from the left, 3 to the right of the smilie guy, is what you want. Click that. If you move your cursor over the icons, what they do should pop up. You'll want the one marked IMAGE. A box will pop up. Paste your URL from flickr, webshots, photobucket, whatever your hosting site of choice is in there. Click OK. You should be good to go! The code you would need is [ img] http:// www.yourlinkgoeshere.com [ /img] Without the spaces. I have to put that in for you to see what I'm doing. I can't speak for the other hosting sites, but Photobucket has an IMG code right below the image. If you just copy that line, you don't even need to do anything else. | |

| You could have at least picked a quilt I liked..LOL! Thank you for the explanation..I tried it and I got the box to put a URL in..but wasn't sure how to do that part. I opened another window and when I right clicked to copy the photo it didn't give me that option. I know it has to be something simple I'm missing? |

| Ah, I think I know. YOu don't need to copy the photo.
Place your cursor over the image being hosted.
Right click.
Go to "Copy Image Location."
Paste that link in the box and it should work.
Sorry I didn't pick a quilt you liked more to test with!

| I had a yahoo photo site and they were going to take it down. They recommended Flickr..which I went with because some of my photos had been posted from scanned actual photos and they would transfer everything I had..I just had to click one button. Our scanner went kaput so I just transferred to Flickr because it was easy..and I'm lazy. I really don't like the site...especially that I can't move photos around unless I pay for an account that will allow me to do that. I'm cheap too! I've thought about moving to webshots because you can have separate folders..etc., but I may lose those pics I have that were scanned. They aren't on my desktop. |

| Finisher, Photobucket.com lets you create a free account and you can create as many sub albums as you like. I've just been using PB for years, so everythign Fiber Babble said is a bunch of gibberish to me (sorry!) | |

| Barb we might start a topic on how to load your images here in the right area (whereever that is LOL) and we can copy or move all the info instructional posts to it.
Bratt and Fibrebabble, thank you for taking the time to help and be so step by step with it, it gladdens my heart to see. This forum is our home, it belongs to all of us and it makes me so happy to see you all pottering around busily making it your home
Oh and the paypal, at the moment the extra credits we purchased was a gift to everyone, dont worry about it. In time if we need more gallery space etc we can work it out then, for now, consider it a housewarming pressie, so use it and enjoy. :flower:

| Soo..I can just copy the URL and not the box above it with so much info? OR can I copy either one and it should work? I think I ought to try moving! AND the part about not as easy to just plop a photo in without resizing or linking to webshots..you mean when posting a pic in a thread?
AND..remember you have to go slow with me..because I'm slow. You said you were using webshots for that presentation..but then said if I copied..blah blah..voila..I've uploaded my pic to photobucket. You mean it works the same or you mistyped? |

You mean it works the same or you mistyped? Hmmm. No. I was talking only about Flickr & Photobucket - uploading from the Flickr url to a Photobucket album. The part about Webshots? I was still test-driving it, so all of the pictures in the post were hosted at Webshots. I am SO sorry, it didn't even occur to me that I was being confusing!! So. If you use Webshots, you need to (as far as I know) save your Flickr photos to your hard drive and re-upload them to Webshots. A (very) good thing about Webshots is that you can put a "thumbnail" - a smaller version of your picture - into a post here and it will be clickable to the full-sized version in your Webshots album. If you don't want to resize your picture (you don't need a thumbnail or click-to-big), it's not quite as easy as it could be. If you go with Photobucket, you can upload directly from Flickr, though it still takes a few steps (on the Flickr side, not Photobucket). Inserting photos into posts is a matter of clicking on the IMG code (it auto copies, you just have to click it) and then pasting it into the post. If you want a click-to-big, you need to have two pictures in your Photobucket album - the small (thumbnail) and the large.**** Theoretically you can re-size the view of your picture in the IMG Code, but it didn't work over at QS. I haven't tried it here - that might save a couple of steps.*** I think that's the black and white. Make more sense now? _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress
