Well, if it's okay, then I have one more thing to add. Lke I said, Webshots allows you to insert a clickable thumbnail quite easily. If you choose to use Photobucket, you can still link to a large picture (425 is about the max width for the forum posts to keep it all "see-able"), but like I said, you'll need to have the large pic and a smaller version of it in your Photobucket album. Photobucket gives you the ability to resize the picture after it's uploaded, but it resizes the actual picture. I've been known to upload the large one again after I've over-written the original with a smaller version. (If I know I'm going to do the thumbnail thing, I usually just make two versions in my photo software while I'm cropping and stuff) Okay, back to click-ability. You'll put this in: - Code:
-
[url=http://name of location of big picture.jpg] [img]http://name of location of little picture.jpg[/img] [/url] It's quite similar to how you make clickable text links, but instead of words, you've got an [IMG] statement. BTW, I checked the IMG re-size stuff, it doesn't seem work in this forum, either. I don't know if it's some sort of admin setting or if it cost$... but what I can find in the land O'Google is that in theory it works much better than it does in real life. _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Well..it took me a couple of hours but I got all of my pics moved to Photobucket. It seemed the easiest option for moving pics from Flickr. I could only do 3 at a time and then had to type in names and anything I wanted to say about the pic. I sure couldn't have done it on my own! Thank you Tracy and IBratt!!! https://s381.photobucket.com/albums/oo255/ann_champion/ |

| Finisher, when you want to post a pic fairly quickly from Photobucket, take the 4th box's code and copy and paste that here. That is single handedly the easiest and fastest method. That's the box with IMG in front of it. If you copy that, you don't need to do anything else. | |

| Thanks IBratt! You've been a wonderful help! I still can't figure out how to bring a pic from Photobucket to the gallery here..? The photo switch over was really easy! |

| Finisher, for the gallery, you'll HAVE to save to your computer. There's no option that I can see for uploading from a remote site, like Photobucket.
For resizing, I've found that if I go to where the picture is stored on my computer and double click on it, it will open in Microsoft Picture Manager. I then go to the "Picture" menu on top and select "Resize." I've been using the "Website Small" preset setting and it works for uploading to the gallery.

| IBratt..Thanks! I've been using Microsoft to resize but have just used the % method. I didn't notice the preset feature. I'll have to give it a try. I tried cropping pics on PhotoBucket and watched the tutorial. I couldn't get the crop icon to drag to where I wanted it. Have you ever cropped a photo..and is there some "secret handshake" I need know to make it work..that you know of? |

| My DH has been using PB for several years now. He loves it. He posts on photo forums all the time and PB has been the best product for him, in his opinion. :) | |

Have you ever cropped a photo..and is there some "secret handshake" I need know to make it work..that you know of? Photobucket cropping: Log in and click on the image you want to edit. Click on "Edit Image" and "Crop". It should take a few seconds for a new page to load. Once there, if you click on the image, you should have a dashed box appear when you drag the mouse with the left button held down. Arrange it to however you want it cropped. If you mess up, you can either "grab" the box at one of the borders and drag it to however you want it, or you can click the cancel button at the top. Right click inside your box and select Crop Selected Area. When you're finished edditing, save your pic. It will not automatically do this for you.

| Well..I had the photo I wanted to crop in the edit box and then clicked on crop and tried to drag it and it wouldn't move. Maybe it's that I need to click on that photo after it loads then try dragging? I thought once it had loaded it knew I meant that photo? Did that make sense? I had to leave and go to a Birthday party and just got in so haven't had a chance to fiddle with it more. |

| Finisher, I know it took me a few seconds after I started trying to drag my box around and crop before it actually recognized it. Maybe there's just a bit of a delay built in? | |

I haven't seen that option yet. But I will keep an eye out for it. Now, come on...there aren't ANY topics on here that you can't live with out reading....geesh!

Certain topics, not as far as I can see. It only lets you ignore certain posters. Howeer, it also says you cannot ignore mods and admins. That part kind of struck me as funny. the only way I see to ignore certain topics is to just not click on them. That's not so hard, is it?

| :cat-in-pumpkin: Okay. So, how do I....
When I first "hit" the forum, all topics that have new posts show up (I have "search for new posts" set up). If I click on one to read it, next time I click "new posts" I only get one or two - whatever's happened since I started reading the original post. If instead of clicking "new" I just hit "back" to go to the first page I had loaded, I also just get one or two posts. That first page is gone forever.
This leads me to believe that I'm missing out on new stuff and new discussion because I just don't SEE it without trolling all of the topics individually. I know I'm spoiled by "show unread posts since last visit" in the other forum... is there something different I should be doing?
:peek: And a Nother thing. (This is the old/new sites discussion forum...) When I click "show your posts" sometimes I get 30 topics listed, sometimes I get 2. I can't figger it out. And I don't want to see what I have written, I want to see what people have written back to me... _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| When I come to the site I go to the home page and in the upper right hand side it says "view posts since last visit". That takes me to the list of threads with new posts. I go to the bottom of the list and work my way up because if anybody posts as I'm reading it will be at the top of the list. I hit the back arrow to get back to the list after reading a post, and continue up the list. I can go back and read anything in the post..so I dunno why you can't? Do you have the site set so you don't have to scroll through older post to see the newest one? If so..that might be the problem?
You can click on "watch this topic for replies" if it's one you want to be sure to see if somebody has responded to a post you've made. |
