I have not used the silk or cashmere that Finisher tried, but I would like to recommend Matilda's Own wool/poly blend. It is wonderful to work with, washes well, is warm, and about 2x as thick as the Hobbs wool/polyat around the same price. I have made cuddly quilts for us with it. Buying it by the roll, which I haven't been able to do this year, it is about twice the price of Warm and Natural on the roll.
I made up a bunch of give away baby quilts using it. I attached labels to wash with warm water and dry on delicate. I gave one to a friends great grandson, whose mother washed it with the jeans in hot water without any apparent damage! She said it got washed a lot because it was his favorite.

Where do you get the Matilda's own Marynel? It sounds interesting. I made a quilt for my Mom that had pure wool batting. I got it from a lady that had sheep and sold the fleece for spinning and such. She had batts for sale too.My DM had a long haired cat that shed a lot so she washed her quilt fairly often. The last time she did something wrong because it shrunk up (felted?)and looks awful. After she passed I got the quilt back and it just lives in the linen closet.
Argh! Who would wash a quilt in with jeans? :santa_sad: That's quilt abuse!

I do my wash at a laundrimat and you'd be amazed what people combine in a washer. What ever happened to sorting? I may over sort but I rarely have anything "weird" happen!

I cannot believe anyone would do that, but then, a cousin said the wedding quilt she made for her son and DIL ended up in the dog bed. It was so beautiful. She bought only the finest materials and beautiful applique and hand quilting. I wonder why she didn't give it to me? :santa_undecided:
