It is fun to be in a class. Once I took remedial typing just so I could feel like I was at the top of the class for a change. That what you are angling for? ;D ;D ;D ;D

LOL Marian..you remove stitches too? If I make a stitch or two that fall crooked or uneven I take them out and redo. This usually happens when I'm watching TV at the same time I'm quilting and look up too often. ;) Once the quilt is done..nobody would probably notice those stitches..but we'd know they were there. It's good to know it's not just me that does it!
Paws..I think it would be fun to take a class. I've never had the opportunity. Maybe you will learn a trick or two? Or..teach a few? ;) Have fun!

Finisher--I have not taken classes either. So I am looking forward to it. She is going to also cover basting, batting, needles, thread, hoops, marking tools and thimbles along with basic quilting. It's a half day class.
I am also taking a hand applique class the end of the month. I am probably the only one on here that does not know how to do applique :'( :'( :'( .

Thanks for posting that MerryBee. I use the freezer paper on top and that's kind of unusual. Most people like it on the underside..but if you have it on top it's easy to remove and reuse. Sometimes I fold the edge of the fabric under and use the edge of the freezer paper as a guide and baste the turn under right through the freezer paper. I did that for years before learning needle turn. There are so many ways to "skin a cat". ;)
Paws..I would like to take that class just to see what they teach. Especially when it comes to the marking of the quilting design, basting, and different battings. Let us know if you learn any real good tips! ;D

Finisher, it is nice to know someone else removes stitches as well! Your right, nobody else would notice, but it would bother me until I took them out, it's annoying that we're like that isn't it! Oh well, that's what makes us quilters I guess! Hey, we're happy quilters, that's what counts!

I am having a really hard time appliqueing the pointy point on a patch. I used to do this, but haven't hand appliqued in years. It seems that I get rusty fairly easily. That might turn out to be a different shape altogether by the time I am done.... ;D ;D ::)

Merry Bee, Just remember to get clear to the point and lock it down, then clip, then use your needle or scissor tips to shove everything 'extra' underneath. You gotta really crack the whip sometimes.

That is what I did, sorta. I followed the directions on that tutorial I posted, but wasn't sure what it meant when it said to clip off the extra...so I snipped a bit, they shoved it all under with the point of my needle. Then I quickly took a couple of stitches to keep it there. It looks good, but is a bit lumpy there. This block is for Leisa Rae, and some of it was done on the machine with satin stitch, but the butterfly was needle turned because I wanted it to be soft. I will try to take a picutre and post it here. I will take the picture anyway, even if I cannot figure out how to resize the picture and post it. Maybe DD will be here to help me soon. I am proud of how it turned out. I put some chenille detailing on the block.

I think I will reserect this thread, as last week had one of those stinky hand quilting experiences. :-[
I rarely take out stitches unless I go way off the line. If you look it from the back... looks staight...good for me. tlcquiltnut

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one that read it as does your quilting hand stink? I read too fast, I type too fast, I talk too fast, I walk too fast and I can't for the life of me hand quilt. I think I'm the reason that invented long arm quilting machines. Let my LA do it everytime its too much for me to handle. I took a class too. Didn't help a darn bit.

I can hand quilt, but I don't like to do it. My hands are too tender, and I am cooking and cleaning a lot and refuse to wear rubber gloves. I don't like to machine quilt either for that matter. All I like to do is buy fabric and make blocks. And applique, and have quilts for gift giving.....
