| Hello and welcome to our 'Quilt Resort',
Please introduce yourself, we love meeting new friends and having the opportunity to say "Hello". There is a lot on here, if you need any help dont hesitate to ask or feel free to contact any of the moderators here who will cheerfully assist you.
We are a community of friends and quilters but you certainly dont have to be a quilter to be welcome. You wont find any quilt police here either ;) and, being quilters, well, some of our posts go 'off topic'. Ok so lots of our posts go off topic but thats what happens when friends sit around and chat, share and exchange ideas and thoughts :D
We are a diverse bunch of people with a diverse range of interests to match. You will find boards covering topics such as gardening, books, cooking, travel and even pets. We love to share what we are doing and members have created & posted tutorials, online classes and other reference materials. So, sit down, join us and 'Welcome to the Resort' :D

| Thanks, Helen (Gimpy) for telling me about this forum. I will probably read more than I post, but will post some. Learning my way around. Hope I'm in the right spot.
Working (slowly) on a baby quilt - 16 squares with cross-stitching designs in each square. Still cross-stitching on the first square, but almost finished with that one - and it will be nice to move on to the next design.
Good to see some familiar faces (names) from the past.
Thanks again. | |

| Hello Gerry..welcome! Your baby quilt sounds cute. What designs are you using for the cross stitching? That's one needle work thing I don't do. I tried once and somehow got my rows mixed up. I didn't want to take it apart and redo..so I tossed it! LOL |

| Thank you Ladies for the warm welcome.
I haven't done too much quilting except for "cheaters" which was good practice for making stitches. Did a small quilt as a sample out of DH's neckties so eventually I will make a big quilt of the same.
Baby quilt I am doing are small cross-stitching patterns, supposed to be simple, but the first one is not which is "Noah's Ark" and I doubt if I will use that pattern again. The rest are easier patterns of trains, tin soldier, jack-n-the-box, and teddy bears. I am very new at sewing/quilting and am learning by my mistakes. I had sewn the 16 squares together, now I am putting designs on them. Next one I do will do the designs first, then sew the squares together. Live and learn as they say.
Thanks again for the welcome.

| Your quilt sounds really cute! I think I would do the stitching first too..just because it would be easier to work on them without the excess bulk and seams. Oh well..look at it this way..they are sewn so they won't fray. If doing the X stitch first I think I'd make the background a little bigger so it could be trimmed some it it frays at all? Keep stitching! :D |
