| I take it that this is the "meet and greet" area of the forums....so.....
My name is Kim, I have known Helen (and Janet, too) since I was on the BHG forums about 5 years ago...(? perhaps a bit longer?...not sure as time has been grossly distorted for me) I live in the western Chicago suburbs (this would be Westmont) and have a husband of 20 years and 3 sons, 19, 12, and 9. I used to be moreso involvled in the chats and forums before our house slid into and excavated area for an addition we were doing and I had to quit (this would be all quilt related activities) for 3 years to build. I have quilted for about 23 years on and off and in the past 2 I have been digging in really hard. I recently finished 6 UFO's I had laying around as a commitment to my husband to lay off the fabric buying and encourage him to help me build my quilt studio I have always wanted and I think...NEEDED. I am currently sitting here in front of my comp trying to ignore the 20 or so bins of fabric that are demanding to be put up on a shelf where they can be seen and used....This proves it...RIGHT?!!!! I am currently looking for ideas to take my stashes down and supplementing my projects.
My hobbies are quilting of course as well as crocheting, camping, fishing, hiking, gardening, landscaping, and chatting away the time with my friends and neighbors. At just about any time during the spring and summer months and partway into fall I can be found on my front porch sewing if I am not out walking the yard digging in the dirt (if I am home of course) I am always happy to get a quilt to the binding stage....I never realized this is my favorite part of doing a quilt.
Please let me know if I left anything out and I would be happy to answer!

Glad to have you here. You are probably about 3 hours from where I live in Central Illinois. Seeing as how Golo is such a tattle-tale, I have to admit I DONOT like binding at all, no way . Looking forward to seeing pictures of your work. We all love pictures here. Please join in often. Looking forward to getting to know you better. |

| Thx all for the warm welcome :)
I have been sewing all day...along with trimming a screwed up jelly roll and making it better. I should have known better than to commit to the mess I took on but I have realized I am thoroughly enjoying the concept...lol. I bought a jelly roll that was "suppose" to be 2 1/2 inches....and of course the widths vary from 2 1/4 to 2 5/8 inches. Quite frustrating to be honest. I resized the pattern and am trimming it all down to 2 1/4 for now and I am truly liking what I am making now. I am suppose to donate it to the school for a raffle... however....I am really growing quite attached to it.
As for my comment on "taking down the stash" I just want to let any takers know....this particular comment was sort of rhetorical for you never got to see or hear about the 3 other rooms I seem to be stashing stuff in as I am buying fabric....it is an economical issue really....lol. I have to prove to my husband I can use what I have so we all feel better for mom to have her hobby.
BTW Paws.....we have a trailer that we like camping in now. We will be heading south here soon...I am planning on bringing some projects to play with too...I'd be happy to get together if you like :)

Are you just vacationing or seeking warmer weather for a while? You gotta pack some "projects" to work on, look at what you might get done :) . Do you have youngsters at home yet? |

| When I say south...I mean no more than 3 hours...and when I say soon I mean spring break....lol
My youngest is nine and as I have all boys....I can get away with doing my own thing on trips...I sometimes find myself standing in awe when I step foot into a full service SUPER WALMART!!!!! I cannot believe they actually have these stores! I think I am not rural enough to get the shopping bug at 3am and actually have somewhere to go! Mind you....I cannot stand Walmart for the most part....but really...A SUPERWALMART?!!!! That is a whole new experience for me!
OK...I digress and I apologize....I am just saying...if we do what we planned originally 3 months ago, We will be heading to central Illinois....and yes, I'd love to get together if it works out....we have to see how things go with husband's work first.

| Kisuhnz,
I am glad to hear from you. It sounds as though you have had all a person can expect to handle lately.
With that much quilting experience, YOU should probably be cluing the rest of us in. My own experience is nt that I have trouble getting an idea for the stash I've got (or any of 2000 other possible fabric combinations). My problem is trying to get one thing at a time completed. If you prowl through the albuns here, you will see lots of ideas. Something is sure to inspire you.

| I am sooooo happy for you...if you like walmart then you will be just tickled :) I like super walmart but cannot stand the stores here close to me. They are NOTHING like the superstores...trust me on this....They stack crap on top of other things...very cluttered...they all but killed the fabric/craft section....They put in thise "furniture" section but after looking at it I am questioning the idiot who killed the toys and crafts to impliment that brainchild.
Anyway...I love the superwalmarts that are popping up just 2 hours southwest of here.

| Howdy! Harris here, hubby to Louanne (hummerlou). Setting up IE8 with autologins and she said to get my own account! No I don't quilt, I just take pictures of them. I'll peruse a little in here, post if I find stuff I like. No, you won't get the "love talk" posted in here between Louanne and I, I just have to walk into the sewing room to do that, since I work from home most of the time. | |
