| Hello Fellow Quilters and other crafters, Thanks to the help from Anita M I finally manged to find my way here. :D My grandmother (maternal) made quilts. We made one together when I was about Jr. High. That was a rail fence. I cut out the rectangles and arranged them. She did the sewing and quilting. I spent many years in a little country in West Africa called Cote d'Ivoire. that's Ivory Coast for all the anglophones. I was surprised when I signed on and there was arabic on the top. Anyway, after our troubles in CI, I came back to the US for a while. While there I planned to learn more about quilting. I took some classes, joined some groups. Now my family is treatening me about my stash being a hoard. Well, now I am in Tunisia where my husband works. I have been working on the quilt tops I have made. I think I have serveral tops made, a few almost made and fabrics gathered for those to be made and of course just plain stash. I have actually finished a couple of quilts. I have made a christmas tree that used logcabin blocks. My older daughter has that one . She's 23 and working on a Ph. D. in econ at Am. U in DC. I gave my friend a shamrock quilt that had a few squares in pink. She is a twelve year breast cancer survivor :yahoo: . I am working on a challenge quilt that a friend of Anita M and mine started us on. She gave us each a black and white peice of fabric and asked us each to make something from our stashes with it. Unfortunately, I have no pictures. I will ask my friend, Rosine , to help me as she does pictures on-line all the time. Well That's probably more than you wanted to know. anybody read sci-fi? :study: I also do cross-stitch, knitting and crochet. nehounou | |

| probably more than you wanted to knowAhhhhhhhhhh no, tell us more.........................we are greedy little quilters, we like listening to all kinds of stories. May I ask what took you to Cote d'Ivoire and how long you lived there? How long have you been in tunisia? Tunisia was the place my dad hopped on a steam ship to Australia many years ago, he is from London originally. I love Africa and would love to live there but the politics and instability, well, australia is a safe country to live and have a family. Your quilt projects sound great, look forward to pics when you friend can help out, is there much available in the way of quilting stores where you are or do you have to shop online? We moved to our current home last july (the island state of asutraliaTasmania) and I was sad I would miss all the quilt stores in teh old area, well many of htem have closed down now so I would have lost them anyway. There are a few around the state, Im happy working on my stash and the million projects I always have in various stages anyway. My Dh is working as a high school math and science teacher here, I met and married him in Savannah, Georgia and then after a year I imported him into Australia Look forward to reading your posts and seeing you on the board. _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon
