| (Heh. Another recyclable topic with a generic name  ) Okay. I am 1/2 yard short of THIS fabric: I got it at Joann Fabrics just a few months ago, but MY Joann's no longer carries it. The plain yellow is a yellow post-it note for color comparison. Can anybody please, please locate some of this for me? (Of course I'll pay!) _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| I'm running out tomorrow and will stop in at "my" Joann's and look. I'm pretty familiar with most of what they have and don't recall it..but it couldn't hurt to look! |

| Tracy, I don't recognize it as anything familiar but i will check to. FYI if you have the name of the fabric they will order it from the main wharehouse. If you see something at your Joanns that you like but their is not enough just take it to the counter and they will order it for you | |

| Also..if you have enough look on the selvage and see if it's a Joann exclusive. If there's a name there's a good search engine for some of the quilt shops. If you still have the receipt Joann's can do a search with the code # http://www.quiltshops.com/search.htm |

http://www.quiltshops.com/search.htm Oh, you just crack me UP! Yeah, right... I have the selvedge. DOUBLE right... I have the receipt! Seriously, though, thank you all who've offered to check for the fabric. In the less than 4" of selvedge I have, I got lucky and I can see that it's Fabric Traditions. For the first time in MONTHS I cut out a quilt (this quilt, that you all haven't even seen yet) at my kitchen island rather than in my sewing room. That means that all the selvedges and scraps went into the kitchen trash. Which was picked up this morning. My daughter is working on a quilt and she's taken to sending me emails with subject lines like "Who is this Murphy guy and why is he messing with my quilt?" I can't really blame Murphy (because he's apparently busy at my daughter's house), but this is what happens when I buy fabric just because... and put it into a quilt someday... and then decide that I need more for the border of the quilt. It ain't easy being me. :joker: _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| I'm going to start saving a bit of fabric with the reciept. I think its brilliant that one could be so organized! Now i've got to find myself a suitable box for my sewing room for reciepts. I'm on the hunt for fabric today too! | |

| I just thought I'd ask, because for some reason I keep the receipts for a while. I've had times when I've needed more fabric too, then it's a puzzle which receipt it's on because of the silly names they give the colors/designs. I have to try to remember WHEN I got it and look that way. I also thought..if there were ever a disaster of some sort and I'd need to place a value on my things for an insurance claim I'd have a place to start figuring from? The trash in my cutting area just gets emptied when it's full and that takes a while. I've been known to rummage for things on occasion. ;) I don't seem to be having too much problem with Murphy lately..maybe that's because he's busy at you and DD's place? BUT that mean old Mr. Gravity.... |

| I went up to Joanns this morning (well I had two coupons that expire tomorrow, cant have that happen : ) ) No luck looking on the racks and asked at the cutting table, she looked in her catalog then asked me if I had the reciept. I'd try contacting them, send them the pic. they also have a list of distributors, hancock of paducka is on there as well as many others, looks like you have quite a search ahead of you. If its just the binding maybe you could find something else easier. | |

| Tracy.....if all else fails...there is a website www.missingfabric.com where people can post fabric they are looking for and people will then contact you if they have. Worth a try :) | |

| Phooey! I checked my Joann's and couldn't find it. I didn't think they had it because it's the sort of thing I would have bought if I had seen it. BUT I don't usually look in juvenile so thought it was worth a look. I checked novelty, juvenile, Debbie Mumm, Quilter's cottons, and the good old calico wall. They just switched to a new system where they can enter a SKU# and check the other stores for fabrics. They used to only be able to check the warehouse..but they need the SKU..there's no other way of checking. I was bummed so I went across town and checked Hancocks and Hobby Lobby and no luck there either. Maybe try the missing fabric site Jenn gave? It's worth a try? |

| Thank you ALL for trying and giving suggestions- You know, it's just one of those things, now: I don't absolutely positively HAVE to have that fabric for the border, but now I've got it in my noggin and nothing else will do. I'm off to surf a bit to see what I can see... _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Cute! You did better than I did looking around. I wasn't able to find a whole line..just bits and pieces.
Too bad photo transfer is kinda stiff..and pricey for the amount you'd need. It would work if you just need a piece to fix a block or something. |

Oh, that's a sneaky workaround! You're right, I need too much for it to work on this project, but it's a very good idea to keep in the slip drawer! (The slip drawer is that little section of my brain into which I shove all kinds of useful but rarely needed stuff.) :D _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| My slip drawer is full. I'd do great on Jeopardy. I can't believe the amount of weird info I have stored away! I forget a lot of the day-to day stuff I should have front and center! |

Oh, yay, oh yay, oh yay! I'll be chained to the puter for most of the day, so I'll be watching and hoping for good news! (Thank you for looking!) _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Wish I had good news but I don't. I did ask and they said to check the joanns.com site or the fabric traditions site and go from there. | |

| Tracy, here is a little brainstorm I had, but have never tried. Could you scan and print your fabric on the computer? Would it match doing that? I thought if I ever needed a little extra and couldn't find it, I might try it. It might be a long job for 1/2 yd even if it works. Has anyone ever tried this? | |

| <sigh> Okay, thank you for checking. I've been to the Joann site and the Fabric Traditions site, plus all of the sites that Fabric Traditions lists in its links. One small problem is that the online sites for 'real' stores like Hobby Lobby, Joann's & Fabric Depot frequently don't have "all" of their stock listed. In other words, I struck out. I might have to take a field trip down to Fabric Depot. But if it comes to that, I will probably just go with Plan B and find a different border fabric. As for scanning and printing? Overall, it's a clever last-ditch save-your-backside plan. In this case, though, two things: First, my guess is that 1/2 yard is really quite a bit to print; if it were just a block or so maybe, but it just strikes me as too much to handle for this project. Second? I'm so cheap I squeak. Color ink is stupidly expensive and I avoid printing in color at all costs - in fact, I use a black laser printer for nearly everything, my color inkjet hasn't been used in probably two years (and I haven't missed it once!). _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Yah..I think printing your own would be for repairing a quilt or if you're just missing a little piece. It would be expensive!
