| Well I have had problems about 6months now with a virus that I finally took the pc in and got it fixed. It is amazing how frustrating it can be I have all the anti what nots but still viruses seep in. I am not sure how cause I am very careful. I don't open any jokes in my email, not even from DH and everyone knows don't bother to send one cause I will not open it...LOL I think I got it from FB I had started visiting there because of quilting...but you know how it is someone gets you to open videos that lead you other places....so now I will only read the quilty stuff that I am interested in. Best Buy did a great job on cleaning my baby up I have to have it clear I have 2 offices that I am in for 2 of the 3 guilds and need the computer. One is for Sec/web support, and the other I am the photographer...don't critic my picture taking skills...LOL It will be a busy year for my pc and I want to remain friends with it especially when I can talk to my friends and find new patterns to play with. Anyone else have drauma with their computer? do you have a go to girl/guy that helps you out when you need an adjustment? | |

| At first I thought you meant you caught it from FiberBabble (FB) then I realosed Face Book (ya'll can tell I dont use it huh?!) So sick of computers, glad yours is all running smoothly again, I got a nice laptop last year, it screwed up twice, was gone for 6 weeks the first time, the second time they said "Guess what, it aint worth fixing so you can have a new one" well that was nice and sweet of them and they did give me one that was worth more than Id paid for the first one but its Windows 8 and I like Windows 7 On the upside, so far its working fine!! 2nd computer issue, our desktop, we had an all in one unit, I loved it but it kept shutting down, sometimes you could turn it on and it would shut down before it even booted up, we put it in 3 times to be repaired, (t was 4yrs old and we bought extended warranty!) each time something else was replaced, the last time it was gone all up for over 3mnths, they repaired it and sent it back to the store and it arrived with a leg snapped off & screen damaged so back it went to be repaired again. We finally got it back, casing wasnt put back together properly, you couldnt insert a USB stick into the slot, top corner was damaged and one side had an 1/8" gap at the bottom but none at the top and guess what, we set it up, turned it on and right away - it shut down The tech guy from the store was great, he wasnt impressed at all with what was happening with the repair dept on the mainland, he got onto the store owner who was furious and about a week ago DH took the computer back to the store and they gave us a credit for the full amount we had paid for it 4 1/2yrs ago towards a new one. DH chose what he wanted and they gave us a great deal, knocked $650 off the set up and we put in a little and so far, all is working So....................................while we have been frustrated beyond belief the good aspect is that the extended warranties were worth every penny we spent on them, the store came though both times and went above and beyond in customer service and we are learning windows 8!!!! _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Fortunately, we haven't had anymore issues since our last go round a few months back. One of the problems on my lap top was that I had too many antivirus programs and they were fighting each other and not protecting the computer! Who would have thought that would be a problem??? | |

| I am so lucky to have DH when these computer issues crop up. He was a computer tech in a former job, so can usually figure these problems out. My sister had an issue once that was really serious. She brought the computer over (she lives 90 miles away). DH worked on it and could not go to bed because it was a challenge he would not let win! He came to bed about 2 a.m. and I woke up a little. He couldn't wait to say, "I got it!"
Laura, I can just picture your viruses looking like two baseball outfielders vying for the baseball. Both are saying I got it as the ball drops between them. | |

| Same here, I thought for sure she was referring to our FB! DH has had many problems with computers and he also blames his problems on FB (Facebook, that is) and Craigslist. With the last repair, he no longer uses either site. Needless to say, we will be buying extended warranties for now on. I try to be very careful with mine, so far so good, as I'm not anxious to spar with Windows8 like I've heard so many others have. | |
