Often people wonder what on earth we are talking about with things like DH, BOM, WOW, is it a new language, are we gabbling in some alien tongue? chatting
Our abbreviations leave newcomers scratching their heads, bemused and lost as to what we are saying scratch So here is the spot to find out what it means and to add anymore you can think of that arent appearing here. First up, QLR stands for Quilters Last Resort!!

UFO - Unfinished Object (usually a quilt project!)
WAD - Wanna Do (something we are hoping to do)
WIP - Work In Progress (current project)

LOL - Laughing Out Loud
ROFLOL - Rolling On Floor Laughing Out Loud
LMAO - Laughing My Arse Off (sorry, but thats what it means)

BOB – black on black (or beige on beige)
BOM – block of the month
Charms – small squares or hexagons of all different fabrics
CMQ – commercially machine quilted
CQ – crazy quilt
CW – cathedral windows (or Civil War fabrics)
Dimes – 10” squares
DJ – Dear Jane quilt!
DH - Dear Hubby (can have other meanings too if we are grumpy with them!)
DD=Dear Daughter
DS=Dear Son
DB=Dear Brother
DSIL=Dear Son in Law
DDIL=Dear Daughter in Law
DSis=Dear Sis
DMIL=Dear Mother in Law
DFIL=Dear Father in Law
DN=Dear Niece or Dear Nephew
DGD=Dear Grand Daughter
DGS=Dear Grand Son
DSM – domestic sewing machine (a sewing machine)
DWR – double wedding ring
EPP – English paper piecing
EQ – Electric Quilt software program
F8 – fat eighth
FE – fat eighth
FM – free motion quilting
FPP – foundation paper piecing
FQ – fat quarter
Frog stitching – ripping out stitched seams (Rip It! Rip It!)
FW – Singer feather weight model sewing machine
HMQ – home machine quilted
HP – hand piece
HQ – hand quilt
HST – half square triangle
LA – long arm quilting machine
LAQ – long arm quilter
LQS – local quilt shop
Nickles – 5” squares
Noodles – fabric strips 2 ½” X WOF (width of fabric)
PIGS – projects in grocery sacks
PP – paper piece (PPing – paper piecing)
QST – quarter square triangle
S.E.X. – stash enhancing experience
SBS – Sun Bonnet Sue
SID – stitch in the ditch quilting
Squishie – envelope filled with swap fabric or blocks
STABLE – stash totally above and beyond life expectancy
TOT – tone on tone
UFO – unfinished object
WIP – work in progress
WOF – width of fabric
WOW – white on white
