I have been saving silks, from dresses and scarves, for a long time and would love to do a quilt, but I HATE how crazy quilts look! I want to do something neat and orderly.
Does it all have to be foundation pieced? Do you use a batt? Can you hand quilt it?
You could do a Dresden plate style, or a fan block. Crazys are usually foundation pieced for stability. Some fabrics stretch more than others and can cause problems. I've made a couple. I didn't quilt either one, but instead sewed fancy buttons with the stitches going through all of the layers. The other one I did is just a wall hanging size and I didn't even tie it. Most often a batt isn't used because they get pretty heavy without it. I'll try to attach a pic here. You can see the one I did with fans. You could do something like that but with a plain background.
really awesome crazy quilts AOL.. you just make everything so much better that I want to do it too.. I love the first one.. a little craziness with some order in it to calm it down a little... just love it... that is sooooo much work!!

Almost any scrappy pattern will work. It is your quilt. You are in charge.
