| I need a lesson. Used to love the Microsoft Editor that came with MSOffice but they took it out of Office 2016. BOO. I've tried to use MSPaint and Paint.net and Fotor but for the life of me can't figure out how to resize pics so they save in a nice size & post easily. I've fooled with the percentages in all 3 & just get frustrated. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe there is an easier one free somewhere? | |

| What kind of camera do you have Buzzysma? Im sorry I dont know any of the programs you are currently using. I use a canon program that works with our cameras. DH bought me a Corel program but Ive never really used it, I hate learning new stuff when it comes to computer programs and in the time it takes me to work out how to do one corel photo I can do 20 on the canon program I know. I dont enhance my photos or do all the special effects people do. For putting photos on the forum, you might be able to use the free postimage program, you upload photos HERE. You can also get free accounts with them. I just did a test with these two pictures, the one on the left is a full sized totally unprocessed photo, its 4.5MB in size so large, the one on the right is cropped (its actually a different photograph) and its only 375KB so its about what, 12 times smaller. But the post image program obviously resized the large one and when on the forum, they obviously post exactly the same whether resized previously or not. (the right hand one is smaller as its a cropped image) So unless you have a full on major professional camera, Id say for posting pictures easily on here, just use the PostImage site. For processing them, cropping and all that, resizing, the camera you have, brand wise, may well have free software you can download, they usually do. I hope I make some sense?? _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Thanks Helen. I will try Post Image. I take most of my pictures with my Samsung android phone because it is so easy to share them with friends. Maybe I can resize them from my phone - I never looked into that. | |

| Samsung might have software you can download to your computer, I have no idea sorry I dont really use a mobile/cell phone much, just carry a 9yr old beaten up one around with me in case Mum needs to contact me. Id say post image is the way to go for you, you wont have to resize at all, your photos wont be as big as my unprocessed one was and its so quick and easy to use. Give post image a try _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| After you choose and load your picture to PostImage there is a list of options. Pick Hotlink for Forums and you get this _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Well that guy is extra large and I know why. I forgot to resize. I have to use the resize option they offer. I drop down the options list and choose 640x480 Message Boards and then load the picture. Then choose Hotlink for forums and I get this: I think this is much more user friendly as the giant ones cause me to have to use the grey bar at the bottom to slide back and forth to read the posts. Not sure if everyone has to do that but I do and so I use this option. Maybe different cameras/computers have different needs? Also I open several tabs and have several pictures loading at a time (when I have multiples to do). Hope this helps. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Well Ive never even noticed the resize option so now I learned something, thanks TxMary!!! I dont have to scroll around with the grey bar but I have a wonderful 27" monitor hanging on my wall - I love it!!
By the way, is that your pic, is that your beautiful Aquilegia (aka Columbine, Granny's Bonnet) flower, it sure is a pretty one. Mostly I have deep blue, lighter purple and dusky pink in my garden now, none of the two tone and that one is just beautiful _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Yes Helen that is one of my columbines. Here's the cool thing, it is supposed to be pink and white. I have two yellow ones and this one sits next to them. So I guess they crossed? I was really tickled by them. Here you can see them earlier in the spring when they were all blooming. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Oh they are so pretty, seems like the bees decided you needed a different colour scheme! Do they spread in your garden? Mine have self sowed all over the front garden _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| They've always been in pots so I don't have them anywhere else. I am sure they would if given the chance. Hey maybe they have tried and I thought they were weeds and pulled them up. Never know. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| I don't think that you can resize a picture on your phone, at least not easily. There's a place to set the original picture size before you take the pic, though it's still usually too big for direct posting. I use Paint.net a lot - the resize option is under "Image" on the top bar. You can then put in the size in inches to get where you want to be. After I've got the pic the size I want, I do upload it to Postimage for hosting it here at the forum. This pic is full-sized, and I copied and pasted the "Hotlink for Forums" code. Most often, I prefer to size my pics so that they'll fit on your screen rather than posting a thumbnail that makes you click through: _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress
