http://www.buggybarnquilts.com/I really really like buggy barns "Crazy" books. The technique and finished project are very cool. There is plenty of room for error here. I took a class with 11 other ladies and no 2 came out alike! I have 3 of the books and I recommend them. Oh, and the fabric line is great too.

BearFoot, you really seem to like EQ6... do you have to own any other versions to use it? Or could you start right out by buying EQ6? I have heard an awful lot about this software...all good.. :santa_shocked:

If you have never purchased EQ5 then you just need to buy the Full version of EQ6. If you already own EQ5 then you can purchase the Upgrade to EQ6. I think EQ6 is well worth the money. I use it for lots of different things besides just designing. When I want to play with colors for a block, like in the Quilt Along...I can use EQ6...if I want to see what the Row Robin would look like with different blocks, I used it then. Sometimes I just play to see what I can come up with. It also lets you try out quilting stencils and making labels. (I haven't used those 2 things much yet though). If you do decide to get EQ6, I would highly recommend taking one of the EQ6 classes at QU with Fran Gonzales. Her classes are excellent! I think I am pretty computer & program savvy and I learned a lot from her classes in a very short time.

Yes, those would be online classes. There is a forum to post on if you have questions and Fran is great about getting back to you right away when you have questions. The whole experience was great. In fact, I am signed up for the 2 classes for EQ6 she has in January. Her classes fill quickly so I was Johnny on the spot to sign up early!

I have EQ5, and never have used it to the extent I should.
Is EQ6 very much different? It is easier to learn to use? I guess I am lazy, but all I use EQ5 for is to resize patterns to the diminsions I want. I also use it for templates, but do not like to mess with all those fabric and color things much.
I guess I am either lazy or challenged as far as software goes. I might upgrade if EQ6 is easier to use or has a whole lot more to use.

I think it is. I used EQ5 quilt a lot and thought they wouldn't be able to improve it much, but they did. The whole main interface is much more user friendly I think and again, if you upgrade (since you have EQ5 you can Upgrade) then I would recommend the EQ6 classes on Quilt University. They are really good! It will make you really comfortable in a logical and quick way! No...I don't work for either company

Thanks, BearFoot. I might do that. I never ask for anything for Christmas, because our four bedroom house is already stuffed and cluttered, but software takes up "virtually" no space. Pun. :santa_rolleyes:

lol. I don't have EQanything. It's not the money, it's just that I'm so computer illiterate I doubt I could make good use of it. I sometimes wish I had it so I could get the CD for the CW Diary quilt blocks. I understand you need EQ5/6 to use the CD. I drafted a few of them myself but it's so time consuming I've set the project aside.

I am glad you like EQ6, Queen Bee, because I ordered the EQ6 upgrade a few days ago, and it should be here anytime. I am really anxious to get it and try it out. Think of the joy of learning a new thing! (Or the tedium :santa_sad: if it isn't all it's cracked up to be. )
