| I purchased two beautiful old antique quilts at an estate sale for $1 a piece, which was an absolute steal. Whoever made thse quilts drew thw quilting lines on both of them. Not sure exactly what they used to do thta. Thought it was pencil, obviously not. I tried getting the lines out by washine them with oxy clean and even used shout first on some of the markings to see if they would come out. NO LUCK! I will still quilt them as I loke them both a lot, however, would rather pick my own quilting style. Any idea would be greatly appreciated! Thanks advance!

| Marian - What a find! But it's too bad that the beautiful quilts have indelible marking. My "go-to" for getting ink out is hairspray - basic, cheap, aerosol variety. I've used it on clothing. I'd spray on the hairspray and hold the area under the faucet and let hot water run through, and repeat until the ink was gone. It would be harder to manage a quilt than a piece of clothing, but you could give it a try and see if that works. | |

| Be sure to test anything you try in a small spot to see what happens. You might have to use their quilting pattern to help hide the lines if they don't come out. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Such a shame Marian. You say " ink " but what sort of ink do you think it is ? seems strange that ink would have been used. All the washing could be setting it too . I wonder if you just quilted over the marks would they be less noticeable ? |

| I do like those quilts. They remind me of some my grandmothers used to do. In fact a couple of the prints look vaguly familiar. Like some pieces out of the 40's or 50's | |

| Well, I tried everything to no avail! They just won't come out. I did luck out however. I bought them for $1 a piece and sold them for $30 a piece, so, I can't complain!
