| I just ordered this as my first ruler to use with the longarm I watched the video that is online but as usual I have more questions and wonder if anyone has one? It looks as if it is compact and have everything I need but I would like some further info from someone who has used it. I am most interested in the X hatching and that was not shown on the video but it can be done with this ruler
Thank you Jane | |

| I do have some rulers, just not this particular one. I do know that for ruler work, you need an extended table. My DH built mine. You need the bigger area to rest the ruler on. I have not gotten the hang of rulers so far. I am sure a lot more practice would help. But the whole- hold in place, guide foot along ruler, stop, go, repeat---is more than my brain and coordination can handle. As quickly as you picked up using the longarm, I have no doubt you'll master this ruler in no time. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Jane, do you have a stitch regulator? I'm thinking that would be one of the keys to making that ruler work for you. | |

| Thanks for your info 1) I built my own extension table out of a cookie sheet it is large so I have lots of room 2) I ordered a ruler foot soon to come - this week and the ruler next week 3) I don't have the stitch control but hubby wired up the speed control to all my switches and that seems to work ok, I seem to not have trouble in keeping my stitches even but for 2 years before I bought the LA I had an old Kenmore on my frame so I had lots of practice
The tool is small and easily hand help from what I am told, I watched the video and it is well sold. BUT I think I could make a better video-lol.. They have a an explanation what what the potential is and then do a little demo of how to trace an applique, but not the X hatching that it is marked up to do and what I would like to do, That is ok I will figure it out and then I think I will write instructions and take pics and submit them to handiquilter with this is what it really does, here are the pics and the advert is free, Yep I can get into trouble easily. | |

| Hey, seems they need someone to tell them what a demo is really supposed to do. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| I could not believe it, I guess there is probably a pricey cd somewhere but the lady that developed it is all over the net on a 3 min video that she wastes talking about her tool tray, I am confident I can figure out it out, I will try it on paper first so that I know how I want it to go and then fabric watch out here I come! | |

| There is a video and that is where I found it, the same video is played with every accompanying website that the tool is sold, I have an idea it is a teaser to purchase the inventers CD. What she showed was how to use the tool to trace an applique but not the X hatching or the scallops, clams shel,s, or stitch in the ditch. It looks as if it is a nifty tool and once I get it I will do loads of experiments and then post so that anyone who is interested in what it does can see what I have been able to concoct. Just one more thing for me to play with. ON another note I am designing a quiz as a preliminary research as I contemplate organizing a seminar with the type of longarm I have as it is little known and has a great self help yahoo group. Yep the wheels are turning! | |

| Well today the power went out for the 3rd day this week, I think they are rebuilding the power grid. Anyway it was an excuse to sharpen my quilting blades and cut out 3 quilt tops to be. My hubby decided we needed internet and he brought in the car battery and hooked it up to the computer power supply. The modem is powered up and here I am on my laptop, Just so it would not be a wasted day I built a website that describes the Versa tool, their lousy instructions that came with it and all the other instructions I found on the net. I might be educated now!! Then I wrote out my own instructions in time for the power to come on and practice to be done, One I have a bit more practice this weekend I will post pics of how to accomplish all the ruler techniques that I have learned. Finally I will be able to load the last quilt so that I can try all my training out. I have to think of what I am going to do on that quilt now that I have my new tool!! Of course my online Bailey Quilter Yahoo group have been great supporters and several have purchased this tool but not sure what to do with it, so of course I was challenged. It will look so much better once I get my own pics of how I did each step. So just in case you are looking for a cheap ruler for your longarm and curious about this one.... I have for your entertainment and amusement.. www.baileybgood.blogspot.ca | |

| Well I don't own a Bailey but I am going over to read anyway. A lot of LA knowledge is easily transferable from one brand to another so I read everything I run across. Learn new stuff all the time. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| The tool is a multi tool actually and it is a good price $14 compared to $24 for a straight ruler I have never done any ruler work so I managed to learn how to use it and try a bit of everything Granted I need more practice but I can performs, scallops, clam shells, 3" circles, straight lines and inside or outside corners and stitch in the ditch as well as leaves. Hopefully by Monday I will be back onto a quilt and try out all my new moves, as soon as I decide what designs I want where on the strip twist quilt top.,
