| Anita, I'm so glad that you're going to use the pattern Lots of times I'll get a new pattern and it will sit and sit... Of course, that's not the case with the magazine/pattern you sent to me, I jumped right in and started making those hundreds of HSTs right away! Mom's visit kinda put a wrinkle in the sheets for my HST adventures, but now that she's gone I'm looking forward to getting back to it! I love the fabrics you chose and I think it will be quite sweet when it's done. Please keep us updated on your progress!! _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| I will, Tracy! I am so glad I could send you that pattern! Marynel, I had seen that fabric advertised in a magazine years ago and fell in love with it. Later found it at the LQS. One of those I bought it cause I loved it, but had no plans for it. So glad I can use it now! I started working on the brick quilt yesterday but this is next! | |

| Here's an update - I'd posted on my blog about this quilt yesterday and now that I'm rested (from a hitherto-unheard-of 5 a.m shift yesterday I got to work on more blocks. I was surprised to learn that I'd finished all of the 'whole' blocks, so today I did the partial blocks that continue the pattern into the first border. What's left is a whole lot of pieced sashings; I'll print out the foundations for those from the website and maybe get a start on them tomorrow. So far I'm using only scraps (I am absolutely amazed at how many I'm uncovering in my cleaning/organizing!); each block is from one fabric. I'll continue that with the pieced sashings - each one will be a different fabric. I'm pretty sure that I won't have much problem finding enough in my 'bin' to not have to duplicate any fabrics! And, just to mix things up a bit, I'm not using a corn dog box! I'm using one of the pizza boxes Roni brought to everyone at retreat. _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

I have a bunch of UFOs I am trying to work through right now. Awww, thank you My UFO (corn dog box) goal has been set aside for a bit, obviously... but since I've been doing the clean/organize of my sewing closet I keep uncovering more boxes. At last count I had NINETEEN boxes that all have stuff in them. - Gimpy Cat wrote:

Not usually - probably because it's summer and I'm eating more fresh stuff and unintentionally avoiding processed foods. Though I admit last night I wouldn't have complained about a pizza from the pizza parlor, probably paired with an ice cold beer. Except for the cost. Then I would have complained. - Anita M. wrote:

Yes, I am! I've said it before - I don't know how or why this has grabbed on to me so hard, but I'm just going with the flow for now! | |

There was one place in town doing them a couple of years ago and they started at $25 (for eg a hawiian) needless to say they didnt get our business _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| The 48 sashing strips are taking some tiiiiiiime. Oy. I'm using paper foundations and sticking with one fabric per strip. I have lost track of how many I have finished, but I'm pretty sure I'm not at the halfway point yet. I'm at home today, feeling a bit poorly - either something I caught from the hour and a half wait at the clinic or because yesterday I was at the quilt shop and there was a tiny fire upstairs (in the apartments above the shop) - it was put out quickly, but I took in a lot of smoke. Either way, I got someone to cover my shift at work and I'm home, coughing and generally feeling ooky. If I feel a bit better later on, you can be sure I'll take a whack at making a few more sashings! _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Oh. My. Goodness. Yesterday was the Perfect Storm. And not in a good way. Apparently it was a germ from the waiting room (someone tell me WHY I can't bill them for my lost wages because I had to call in sick to work??) plus the cough from the smoke, and HEY! why not start my monthly girl stuff, too?? I had a temp of over 100 all day, didn't feel like sewing or knitting or surfing or even playing a game on the puter... all I could do is stare straight ahead, basically. We had cartoons on for MoonPie, so I think I watched about 6 hours of My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop (with a Scooby Doo finale, as I recall). Today I'm working at the quilt shop so at least I'm allowed to sit down. My back and ribs hurt from the coughing. The good news is I lost 6 pounds. Pretty sure most of it was dehydration, but if 1 or 2 stay off I'll be fine with that. _________________ Perfection is the enemy of progress

| Bummer Tracy. Sure hope you feel better soon. Did the smoke damage anything in the store or just your lungs. _________________ TxMaryQuilts
