| Hi everyone, rumor has it this is a great place! As an introduction I'm an ex New Yawker and Vermonter, retired to Florida. My current love is crazy quilting, although I've only been doing it about a year, so I'm still in the coloring with crayons stage. I've been a sane quilter (sorry lol, that's what we call 'non crazy' quilters ;) ) since I was 20, but I never liked to make the same quilt or use the same technique twice, so I am the eternal newbie, every quilt being a new adventure. I'm looking forward to being here and hope I don't embarrass myself (or, if I do, that I can laugh at it). | |

| Well if you cant laugh at yourself we will, its always kind to help friends out like that, dont you think? As you guessed, we are rarely serious, its good to laugh, some days this place is my only source of a smile or a chuckle. There are a couple of members from Florida so you arent alone down there. I lived in Savannah, Georgia for a year, dragged a husband home from there (Duh, Im in Australia) still think about sending him back somedays. The big question is, do I send him alive or deceased? Is one cheaper than the other? Sounds like you do lots of quilting and experimenting which is really cool. My mum likes crazy quilts and there are a couple of members here who make them too. I bet you have lots of hints and tips for all manner of quilt styles - cool! I do all different kinds too, rarely do a pattern that I dont alter to suit my own tastes, usually start quilts not knowing where they are going until they tell me. Sometimes do art quilts, sometimes embroider and colour with water colour pencils, I used to design and sell embroidery patterns but I just dont care for the embroidery part very much. I like old and new but dont care for SBS, hey that rhymes - my, what a small brain I have to amuse myself I spend a lot of time growing veges for my family which is DH and daughter. My mother moved down to live with us, built a granny flat on the end of our place, she doesnt take much from the garden but she takes the meals I send her way I sew when I can and take photos pretty much all the time. Look forward to getting to know you and love your avatar, is that your fur baby? _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Hello and welcome. I am a great fan of crazy quilting, both the modern scrap ones and the more traditional embroidered and appliqued type as well as string quilts. If you look in my album, you will see all three types. | |

| Hello in Florida. I've been there, even lived on the border just off I 95 with DD for a couple years. Crazy quilts take a lot of time! How do I know? I'm a scrapper and crazy blocks are a lot of fun, just haven't make a big one in years. We'd love to see pictures. So glad you could join us. _________________ If you can't be a hero, be an inspiration.

| Welcome to the group, so glad you decided to join us. I live in Ohio and have a son at an airbase near Fort Walton Beach, and another son here in Ohio. I enjoy mainly patchwork, will only do applique or paper piecing if I'm forced to.
Please stop by again and jump right in with the conversations.

| Rumors are right. We are a great place if I do say so myself. We mind our manners and encourage and help each other whenever possible. This is our stress free zone. No judgements or criticizing here. Just friendship. Welcome aboard. Well I don't do crazy quilts but not sure I could be classed as a "sane" quilter. I babysit my grandson full time and some days I am not sure I am "sane" period! I live in central Texas on a couple of acres with my DH, youngest DD and several fur babies. Oldest DD lives in town and it's her son I babysit. We stay busy mowing, pulling weeds, and watering plants. Do less of the first and more of the last the hotter it gets. Look forward to seeing pictures of your work. _________________ TxMaryQuilts

| Welcome!! So happy to get new members! I'm in the process of moving to Columbia SC from Houston TX. My husband is retiring the end of June, our house sold, so I'm living in our new home in SC on Lake Murray and he will join me ASAP. He comes back and forth. I love any kind of quilting and do mostly smaller ones. I quilt them on my home machine, mostly using quilt as you go methods. I also just bartered for a new to me embroidery machine and am having fun combining the two! So glad you can join in the friendship here! | |

| welcome, we are almost neighbors I live in central FL in Leesburg (Lake County), we stay in Cocoa Beach a lot, cruise from Port Canaveral once or twice a year and usually spend a week in June as that is our anniversary month and we spent our honeymoon at Cocoa Beach, next year will be 30 years. I love to quilt, photography and scrapbooking, machine embroidery and wood crafts. I work way too much and spend time on my hobbies way too little and this year I'm on a mission to balance that out a lot better and maybe even do a complete flip flop. I've been here about a year and a half now and can tell you these are the most awesome group of friends you will ever meet! Glad to have you with us, just jump in and join us, they made me feel like a part of the forum family from the first day and I think you will find the same thing too. It took a little while to get use to the how the site works so if you have any issues or questions just let us know, any of us are willing to help in any way we can! Hope you enjoy and decide to stay! | |

| Jill, I didn't realize your son was at the base near Ft Walton Beach. My niece is there (my brothers daughter). She was married several months ago and her husband is stationed there, they are expecting their first child the beginning of July (this is the niece I bought the GIRL flannel for and they found out the ultrasound tech was wrong and it's actually a BOY) your Son and my nieces husband probably know each other! His name is Victor Nieves, you'll have to ask your son if he knows him. | |

| Michelle, I usually talk with my son on the weekend, so I'll be sure and ask if he knows him. I'm sure the ultrasound switch was a big surprise, hope they hadn't bought a lot of girl-only things.
Stacey, love your doggie avatar, it looks like a sweetheart. Lots of us on here have furbabies, mine is a 100 pound yellow lab named Haley.
