Do any of you have or know of someone who has the HQ 16 LA quilting machine? I've seen them and if I ever get one I was thinking of that one.

Memaw - Yes, that's what I have. I did a lot of on-line and magazine looking and studying before deciding so I felt fairly well informed, though I know there have been new machines added to the choices since then. I was excited because I was really liking the HQ and then found that a quilt shop just over an hour from me carries them. I discovered a new wonderful shop and the wonderful HQ all in one place! Keep in mind that I'm a fairly new quilter and haven't finished a large number of quilts - but I love the HQ16! I find it very user friendly and haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Like everything else, my quilting would improve if I had more time for those dratted 3Ps (you know - practice, practice, practice) - the lack of artistry in my quilting is due to the operator and not the machine. I'm guessing that after the weekend Missmommy will add her comments here. She's another HQ16er. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed for you - even with the minimal amount I'm able to finish at this stage, it's such a thrill to be able to quilt the quilt!

Thank you QBee. I won't be getting one for quit awhile but I was curious. The one I had seen at the quilt shop looked so easy to use and I can go use it if I want to. She gives lessons on it. So it is something I do want to do and soon! Right now though I'm so busy Thud making drapes for 3 different ladies that it may be next spring before I even get there! cry2

But I will............

thanks again,

It looks like the on-line dealer is selling considerably higher than the dealers. My dealer sells at the lowest price the company allows - I assume many do the same. The price took quite a jump just after I got my HQ16 - I think my dealer said she's now selling them for about $7,000. There's also info at handiquilter.com

Thank you both. I'm sure as they become more popular the price will go up. I expected that. If they're too high when I go to look I'll just forget it till they come down again.

Sheesh, how did I miss this. QBee is correct, I have an HQ too. It's a pleasure to use and with more time I should be able to get better. I have the stitch regulator and micro handles (which I haven't tried yet) and groovy boards (fun). Mine is set up on HQs Select Table to it's full 10.5 ft.
